Hill is co-author of The Encyclopedia of Stanley Kubrick and a contributor to several other books, including The Stanley Kubrick Archives (now in its third edition from Taschen) and The Essential Science-Fiction Television Reader. He is Assistant Professor of Film in the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University, and holds a PhD from the University of Kansas and an MA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His essays have appeared in Film Quarterly, Cinema Journal, Literature/Film Quarterly, and elsewhere.
